JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) Hosts Intensive Workshop on Ethical Hacking and Cybersecurity

Bengaluru, 10 April 2025 – The School of Computer Science and IT at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), in collaboration with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), successfully hosted a two-day Cyber Security Workshop on 8th and 9th of April 2025. The event, held on campus in Room No. 818, brought together over 40 students from within the university for an intensive and immersive experience in ethical hacking and cybersecurity fundamentals.

The workshop was designed to foster cybersecurity awareness and give students essential skills to understand and mitigate digital threats. Under the guidance of Mr Manoj Kashyap, a distinguished cybersecurity expert from EthicalByte, participants engaged in theoretical discussions, live demonstrations, and practical simulations addressing real-world cyberattack scenarios.

The event commenced with an address by Dr N.R. JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) School of Sciences Hosts Deeksharambh 2025 Session on First Aid and Self-Awareness

Bengaluru, 1 August 2025:  As part of its flagship orientation programme, Deeksharambh 2025, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), School of Sciences, JC Road campus, successfully conducted a vital session on First Aid Training and Psychological Self-Awareness on Friday, 1 August 2025. The session, held offline at the University Auditorium, was attended by approximately 650 undergraduate students and aimed at equipping them with essential life-saving skills while fostering mental and emotional resilience.

Organised in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society and the Department of Psychology, the day’s event featured expert-led training, live demonstrations, and interactive physical preparedness and introspective development activities.

A Morning of Meaningful Learning

The event began at 10:09 AM with spirited introductions by student hosts Ms. Sheetal Prasad and Ms. Ananya Vijayanand. The first session, led by Dr. Naresh Babu and Dr. Ravi Keerthi from the Indian Red Cross Society, focused on practical first aid techniques, including CPR, emergency handling of burns, strokes, diabetes-related complications, choking, and asthma. More than 20 student volunteers participated in live demonstrations of CPR and other emergency protocols.

The second session, delivered by Dr. Mamtha K, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, delved into the progressive stages of self-awareness—from confusion to self-consciousness. Through guided mindfulness activities and real-life illustrations, students were encouraged to reflect on their emotional patterns, interpersonal responses, and daily behaviours, nurturing empathy and emotional regulation.

"True education transcends the classroom," remarked Dr. Mamtha K during her session. "It involves knowing oneself deeply, reacting with empathy, and preparing for life’s unpredictability—physically and mentally. Today’s session was a step towards that holistic transformation."

Impact and Takeaways

Students emerged from the session with practical knowledge of handling emergencies and a renewed commitment to self-reflection. Key takeaways included:

  • Step-by-step CPR and first aid practices

  • Real-time emergency response protocols
  • Enhanced understanding of emotional responses
  • Tools for journaling, self-observation, and behavioural improvement

The session concluded with a call to action—students were directed to participate in the ongoing blood donation drive and informed about follow-up initiatives, including an Advanced CPR Certification Programme with the Indian Red Cross and a Self-Reflection Journal Campaign spearheaded by the Department of Psychology.
